Conduct of Operations

There are two types of companies:  those that can afford to make mistakes and those who can't.  In the former, an employee's mistake will be forgiven within the hour, forgotten by the end of the day and repeated by the end of the week-because consequences never catch the public's eye.  The other organization cannot afford even the simplest mistakes being repeated because eventually, the everyday errors lead to a catastrophic loss.  Using case studies and actual events  from our industrial history, participants will:

  • Understand the purpose and importance of a Conduct of Operations process

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of a graded approach to error reducing techniques and defense in depth barriers through case studies and video analysis

  • Describe and understand the key requirements and professional code of conduct required to guarantee uniform and consistent performance

  • Discuss and describe error reducing techniques and event elimination tools including effective written and verbal communication, on-the-job training, organization structure and administration, safety controls and unique processes

The topic can be tailored to a four hour awareness and practice workshop, a one day in-depth discussion including several case studies or a three day hands-on intensive workshop using various assessments, organizational error reduction techniques and individual worksite tools to reduce an undesirable event.
